This work spans installation, improvisation, film, and performance informed by a decade-long body of work that explores the history of moving image and sound on screen. This work is animated by Helen’s extensive research on her great grandfather, Joe Gershenson who was music supervisor at Universal Pictures 1930s - 1969 and the performance work of her great grandmother, Helen Tucker, as well as other ancestors who performed in Universal’s 1930s musical shorts, Mentone Productions.
Radio Vision, choreographed and performed by Helen Wicks, uses expressive acrobatic dance, dramatic black and white movie makeup, acting, Hollywood stories from oral history interviews, dances from 1930s Vaudeville, sound collage, live classical music, film reels, and jello to explore technology in entertainment and performance over time.
Radiovision, an original term for broadcast television, explores how Yiddish Theater, Vaudeville, and early westerns influence pop culture. The work uses epigenetics, oral history, fantasy, and memory to contextualize performance and entertainment stage and screen over the past 100 years.

Sound deisgn
Simon Victor Linsteadt is a composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles. Since 2013 he has composed music for concert, film/tv, and performance art, and released numerous albums. Since 2021 he has composed over thirty pieces for the radio program This American Life. In 2025 Simon created Ionic Order, a music and sound studio working across media and design. His work includes score and sound for a number of Ray-Bay campaign videos along with sonic logos for Stitzlein Studio, a graphic design firm based in San Francisco.
